CHINESE TRENCH ART IS FILLED WITH MEANING - ICONOGRAPHY

A unique aspect of Chinese trench art is their inclusion of ancient stories and imagery to tell a story.  While British soldiers would decorate shell cases with images of the world around them, or the names of places, or simply flowers, the Chinese labourers created works of art.  This exhibition has selected a handful of important pieces to explain their meaning.  From snow lions, to three-legged money toads, their work is interpreted here for the first time...
